Measure 8 inches from the top left side and the bottom right side of your material. Make a mark on your material. (Hint- using a sliver of white soap will leave a distingusiahble mark that can easily be washed or rubbed away later.)
Using your ruler and soap draw a straight line connecting the eight inch measurement at the top to the eight inch measurement at the bottom. If you have a rotary blade you can skip making the mark with soap and simply cut along the ruler’s straight edge. If you do not have a rotary cutting tool mark the material with soap and cut the fabric with your shearing scissors along that line.
