Snoopy poster by Jordenn Luff Snoopy poster by Alex Rask

Theatre Director Jenn Hunter and Technical Theatre instructro Daryl Harrison chose two designs to promote the winter term musical production of Snoopy!!! which will be staged starting February 24, 2012. Tshering Sherpa's Sleepy Hollow Poster design

11.1.11: The Fall term Integrated Media Practicum class started off with a poster competition for the Theatre Department's fall term children's play: "The Legend of Sleepy Hollow." Rocky Horror Show poster design by Arian Durst

Arian Durst's poster selected to promote MHCC production of The Rocky Horror Show

12.6.10: Second year design student, Arian Durst will receive a talent grant tuition scholarship for designing the promotional poster, postcards, program and web graphics used to promote the MHCC Theatre Department's annual musical production slated for February 2011. Guest director Jennifer Hunter and Theatre Technical DIrector Daryl Harrison Carson selected Arian's design from several designs submitted in the fall term Practicum class. Practicum instructor Chris Maier remarked that "client Jennifer Hunter wanted to stay far away from the classic red lips and corsetted Tim Curry imagery favored by so many productions of The Rocky Horror Show. She stressed that her vision for MHCC's production would be very modern, very dark and more Lady Gaga-like. Arian's idea reflected that note very well." Serina Troxell's flyer design was used to promote the cast auditions that were held at the end of Fall term.

Footsteps to Healing page 10Footsteps to Healing page 11 4.1.10: Second year Graphic Design students in David Maier's IM291: Practicum class worked with Portland photographer, Joni Kabana to design a 50-page book, Footsteps to Healing, that details personal stories from Ethiopian women. In February, Joni accompanied doctors from OHSU who focused their efforts on performing 29 surgeries for Ethiopian women under very challenging circumstances. Julia Artemenko's design was chosen to be printed and is available for purchase. All proceeds are donated toward funding surgeries for additional Ethiopian women. Read more about the project on Joni's blog.

This is the third collaboration between Kabana and the graphic design students. In 2008, they designed books that documented her travels to India and Nepal to observe projects funded by Mercy Corps Phoenix Fund. Last year, GD students collaborated with Joni to design promotional brochures for Globio's Bring-A-Book literacy project for third world countries.
